Fluid Sealing Conference Celebrates Its 50th Year

First held in Canterbury, UK in 1961 this, the 21st Fluid Sealing Conference saw us celebrate our 50th anniversary - an amazing testament to the organisers, presenters and delegates who have made this a ‘must attend’ event over the intervening years.

This latest event was evidence that while our understanding and application of the science and technology of mechanical seals has changed beyond recognition, many of the challenges have not. 

The conference programme brought together the whole knowledge chain from world recognised technical experts through to international suppliers and major industrial users, and provided a unique forum for the effective exchange of information and experience between delegates.

The latest in this series of conferences amply demonstrated the increasing importance for improved product life cycle design information brought about the need for seals to perform under more arduous duty, over longer operating periods yet at reduced cost which coupled with compliance with environmental legislation is driving the industry to the limits of current sealing technology.

The presentations (note that these are password protected for the benefit of attendees) ranged from the latest developments in material technology through to the effectiveness of new seal designs for hazardous and system critical duties.  The breadth of papers for this year’s event kept to the high level of technical excellence that has become the standard for this event.
